Transfer ownership of files or projects

When you create a file or project, Motiff will set you as the owner. You can transfer ownership of files or projects under your name.

Tips:

  • Only the current owner can transfer ownership of files or projects.
  • The owner can only transfer ownership to members who are already in the file or project. If the person you want to transfer to is not yet a member, you need to invite them to join the file or project first.

Transfer file ownership

  1. 1.Open the popup for sharing files:
    • Workspace: Right-click the file in the list and select Share.
    • Editor: Click Share on the right side of the toolbar.
  2. 2.Click the existing permissions of the member to whom you want to transfer the file and select Owner.
  3. 3.Motiff will ask for confirmation of this action, click Transfer owner in the popup to proceed.

When you transfer a file to someone else, Motiff will:

  • Keep the file in its original location.
  • Adjust your permission for the current file to Can edit.

Motiff does not support the direct transfer of draft files. If you need to transfer a draft to someone else, you can move the draft file to a team and then transfer it.

Transfer project ownership

  1. 1.Open the project in the workspace.
  2. 2.Click Share in the upper right corner of the project page.
  3. 3.Click the existing permissions of the member to whom you want to transfer the project and select Owner.
  4. 4.Motiff will ask for confirmation of this action, click Transfer owner in the popup to proceed.

When you transfer a project to someone else, Motiff will:

  • Keep the project in its original location.
  • Adjust your permission for the current project to Can edit.
