You can share design files with colleagues, clients, and other collaborators, configure different access permissions for each of them, and manage them centrally.
Click Share in the upper right corner of the file to open the share popup. Motiff supports two ways to share files: Send an invitation or Share a link.
Note: If a person is both invited to a file and given a direct link, the invitation override the link sharing permissions.
There are two permission levels in the file: Can edit
and Can view
. When inviting others, file members can only grant permission levels that are less than or equal to their own:
Can edit
permission can invite others to join the file with either Can edit
or Can view
permissions.Can view
permission can invite others to join the file with Can view
permission.Learn more about Sharing and permissions.
Tip: Motiff supports configuring permissions on a file that is different from the project. This allows you to set what permissions project members have on a file and invite non-project members to join the project for collaboration.
In the popup, you can view the permission configuration for all project members, click on the right, and select a suitable permission to modify.
Note: If you invite a member of the project to the file, Motiff will follow the permissions you configure when inviting this person and ignore the file's permission configuration for all project members.
For example: If the file's permission configuration for project members is Can view
and the member is individually invited as Can edit
, the actual permission of the member on the file will be Can edit
.
Tip: Search by name only works for users who have collaborated on other resources.
Link sharing is a way to share files within a certain range of users, such as all company members or anyone on the internet.
This type of sharing is very convenient, but it carries some information security risks because the distribution of links can be uncontrolled. For members who obtain file access through link sharing, Motiff considers them as temporary members. Temporary members have different operational permissions compared to those who obtain permissions through invitations.
Members with Can edit
permissions on the file can configure access and permission settings:
Tip: In Motiff, the default configuration for the team disables Share with link. The default configuration for the organization is Members in the organization with the link can view.
Tip: If an individual who has the company email domain but is not a member of the organization clicks on the file access link, Motiff will automatically add that user to the organization.
You can click Copy link in the share popup or directly copy from the browser address bar to add the link to the clipboard.
By default, copying the link will include the current page's location. You can right-click on the page to open the context menu and select Copy link to page to share the specified page directly.
If a layer is selected, copying the link will include the location of the top-level frame. You can also right-click on the frame to open the context menu and select Copy/Paste as - Copy link to directly copy the link of the specified frame.
