On the Starter plan, you have three levels of sharing permissions: team, project, and file. The sharing permission for drafts can only be set to Can view
.
The team supports three types of permissions: Can view
, Can edit
, and Admin
. Different permissions determine the members' access to the team.
The permissions table includes a list of common team-level actions and tasks in Motiff. ✓ and ✕ indicate whether someone with that permission can or can't perform that action.
Action | Can view | Can edit |
---|---|---|
Create and edit files in drafts | ✓ | ✓ |
Create files in the team | ✕ | ✓ |

On the Starter plan, only one project can be created. Team members' permissions at the project level default to their team-level permissions. For example: If user A has Can edit
permission at the team level, they also have Can edit
permission at the project level.
If you want to modify the Inherited access
at the project level, such as changing permissions to Can view
, Can edit
, or No access
, you need to upgrade to a paid plan.
A team member's access to files is based on their team permissions.
You can share files individually with external collaborators, in which case the collaborator can only access that file and not other files in the team.
You can also configure Can view
or Can edit
permission separately at the file level.
Motiff supports configuring link sharing permissions for files in the team, which determines the default permissions for external collaborators accessing the file via the link. In the Starter plan, members with Can edit
permission to the file can configure link sharing settings:
Action | Can view | Can edit |
---|---|---|
Open and view files | ✓ | ✓ |
Select layers | ✓ | ✓ |
Move, edit, or delete layers | ✕ | ✓ |
Copy layers, such as frames and components | ✓ | ✓ |

Use the right sidebar to view layer properties | ✓ | ✓ |

When you only have the Starter plan of the team, you can only invite collaborators to files in your drafts with Can view
permission. If you want other collaborators to edit files in drafts, you can move the draft files to a project.
