Add comments to files

You can use comments to respond to feedback, collect others' opinions to adjust the design, and make your design iterate faster.

When adding comments to files in comment mode, you can @mention other collaborators and add emojis to your messages.

Add comment

You can add comments at a certain location or area on the canvas. When you add comments on the outermost layer, Motiff will attach the comment to these layers. When moving these layers, the attached comments will move with them. However, comments will not attach to other layers that aren’t top-level.

    Click '24_Toolbar_Comment.svg' in the toolbar or press C to enter comment mode, your cursor will change to '24_Toolbar_Comment.svg'.

  2. 2.

    Find the location you want to comment on:

    • Click on the location on the canvas where you want to comment.
    • Or click and drag to select the area you want to comment on.
  3. 3.

    Enter the content you want to comment on in the input box, click the emoji icon to add emoji expressions, or press @ to mention other collaborators.

  4. 4.

    Click '16_Canvas_CommentSend.svg' to comment.

Mention collaborators in comments

By pressing @ , you can type in the collaborator's name to mention them and let them see the content they need to know.

There are some restrictions around @mention behavior depending on your plans:

For Professional plan users

Team members can mention:

  • All other team members.
  • All other projects or file collaborators.

Add mentions to a comment

You can mention collaborators when adding a new comment or replying to a comment.

  1. 1.In the comment field, type @ to mention.
  2. 2.Enter the name or email of the person you want to mention. Motiff will suggest collaborators based on your history.
  3. 3.Click on the person’s name in the list.
  4. 4.Motiff will show mentions in blue text. You can enter the content you want to comment on and click send.
  5. 5.Motiff will send an email to the user, including the details of your comment and the file link.

Note: If the user you want to mention does not appear in the list, you need to invite them to become a collaborator of the file first.

Add emoji to comments

You can add emoji expressions when adding or replying to comments. Motiff will use the emoji collection of your system.

  1. 1.When adding a comment, enter the content you want to comment in the input box, then click '16_Canvas_CommentEmoji.svg' .
  2. 2.Choose the emoji expression you want to use from your most recently used expressions or the entire emoji catalog.
  3. 3.After clicking on the emoji expression, it will appear in the input box.
  4. 4.Click '16_Canvas_CommentSend.svg' to send the comment.
