View and manage comments

After you and your team members add comments to a file, the comments will be displayed at the corresponding location on the canvas. You can use Motiff web and desktop app to view and reply to comments directly on the canvas. After entering comment mode, you can view and manage comments in the right sidebar.

View comments

View comments on the canvas

Comments in the file are pinned to the point or region of the canvas selected by the commenter.

Comments will be represented in a pin style. You can hover the pin to preview the comment and click on the pin to open the comment details, where you can add a reply.

Clicking on a comment will open the comment details. In the comment details, you can:

  • Click '1.svg' to mark as unread, copy the comment link, or delete the comment. Click '2.svg' to resolve the comment. Click 'image.svg' to dock the comment to the top left corner of the canvas, click '4.svg' to close the comment details.
  • Hover over the comment text to see '5.svg' and '6.svg'.
  • Enter your reply content and click '7.svg' to send the reply. 'Comments Pic1.png'

You can also enter comment mode by clicking the toolbar '13.svg' or pressing C to view and manage comments in the file.

After entering comment mode, you can view, search, sort, and filter comments. You can also click on a comment in the right sidebar to open its details directly on the canvas.

When viewing comments in the right sidebar, each comment will display the page information it is on. When you click on a comment to open it, you will be navigated to the specific location of the comment on that page.

When you are in comment mode, you cannot make any changes to the layers on the canvas. You can press Esc or select another tool to continue editing the file.

Dock comment details to the canvas

When you need to modify the design content based on comment feedback, you can dock the comment details to the top left corner of the canvas.

How to dock to the top left corner of the canvas:

  1. 1.Open the comment details by clicking on a comment in the canvas or the right sidebar.
  2. 2.Click '8.svg'.

Hide comments

By default, comments will be displayed on the canvas whether or not you are in comment mode. If you wish to hide comments on the canvas and only see them when in comment mode, you can use the shortcut Shift + C to hide comments.

Sort or filter comments

When you enter comment mode, all comments in the file will be displayed in the right sidebar. Clicking the top of the right sidebar https://conan-test.fbcontent.cn/atom-test/t3o612gx0.svg allows you to sort and filter comments.

Comments in the right sidebar can be sorted in the following ways:

  • Sort by date: Display comments by the time they were posted.
  • Sort by unread: Prioritize the display of unread comments. 'Comments Pic3.png'
  1. 1.Click the top of the right sidebar https://conan-test.fbcontent.cn/atom-test/t3o612gx0.svg.
  2. 2.By default, comments are sorted by time. Click to sort by unread to prioritize unread comments.
  3. 3.By default, the sidebar will display all unresolved comments in the file. You can select comments related to you, including:
    • Comments you have added.
    • Comments you have replied to.
    • Comments that mention you.
  4. 4.You can also choose whether to display resolved comments.

You can also view comments in email notifications. Clicking the link in the email will open the file and navigate to the page and location of the corresponding comment.

Reply to comments

All collaborators in the file can add, view, and reply to comments.

  1. 1.Select a comment in the canvas or from the right sidebar.
  2. 2.You will open the comment details. You can enter content to add a reply, or hover over the comment and click '10.svg' to react to the comment with an emoji. You can also add emoji expressions or @ to mention other collaborators as needed.
  3. 3.Click '11.svg' or Return / Enter to add a reply.
  4. 4.Add more replies as needed.

Mark comments as resolved

Once a comment has been addressed, you can mark it as Resolved.

This will hide the comment in the right sidebar and on the canvas.

  1. 1.Select the comment in the canvas or from the right sidebar.
  2. 2.Click '12.svg' at the top right corner to mark the comment as resolved.
  3. 3.Motiff will hide the comment in the canvas and right sidebar.

Unresolved comments

If you mistakenly mark a comment as resolved, you can undo this action by unchecking the '12.svg' in the comment details. Click the right sidebar in comment mode, then filter out the resolved comments.

Delete comments or replies

You can also delete comments or replies you have posted. If there are replies under the comment you delete, the replies will also be deleted at the same time.

Deleting a comment is a permanent action. Even if you restore a historical version of the file, you cannot recover deleted comments.

Delete a Single Reply

  1. 1.Select the comment in the canvas or right sidebar.
  2. 2.Click https://conan-test.fbcontent.cn/atom-test/5jryuc1e0.svg next to the reply.
  3. 3.Select Delete.

Delete the entire thread

You can also choose to delete the comment and all replies.

  1. 1.Select the comment in the canvas or right sidebar.
  2. 2.Click https://conan-test.fbcontent.cn/atom-test/5jryuc1e0.svg at the top right corner of the comment details.
  3. 3.Select Delete.
  4. 4.In the confirm deletion popup, select Delete again.
