The version history will record the changes in the file. You can trace back the timelines of all file edits through Version history. Motiff will automatically generate a version history after the content of the file changes, and you can also manually save it.

Show version history
You can view the version history in the following ways:
- Click Main menu - File - Show version history.
- Click on an empty spot in the canvas to deselect any layers, click next to the file name in the toolbar, and select Show version history.
After clicking Show version history, you can see all previous versions of the file in the right sidebar:
- Previous versions will be displayed in reverse chronological order.
- Each version will display the name of the version, the description of the changes made, the avatar and name of the contributors, and the time that the version was generated.
Click to view the file content of that version:
- The Layer panel and canvas display detailed information on the current preview version.
- You can switch pages to view the content on different pages of that version.
- You can also use to move the canvas.
You can filter the version list.
By default, all versions are displayed, including manually saved versions and automatically saved versions.
- You can uncheck Show autosave version to make the list not display automatically saved versions.
- You can check Only yours to make the list only display versions that include you as a contributor.
Save to version history
Motiff will automatically add version history to save your work content. A version history will be automatically generated when the file content stops changing for 30 minutes.
For example:
- User A starts editing his file at 10:00 AM and starts his lunch break at 12:00 PM. Motiff will automatically generate a version history 30 minutes after the file stops being edited, that is, at 12:30 PM, an automatic version history is generated.
- User B starts editing his file at 11:00 AM, takes a 15-minute break at 11:30 AM, and continues editing. If he does not stop editing, the system will not generate a version history.
- At 14:00 PM, User A and User B start editing the file together, User A stops editing at 16:00 PM, and User B stops editing at 18:00 PM. The file will automatically generate a version history at 18:30 PM. Since User B has done more editing operations, User B will be displayed in a more forward position in the contributor list as the main contributor of this version.

Restoring a historical version will not change the published libraries.
Restoring a historical version will not change the comments in the file:
- Restoring to a previous version will not lose comments added in the new version.
- Comments deleted or marked as resolved in the new version will not be restored.
For example: The file has 3 comments in a previous version. In the new version, the original 3 comments are deleted, and 5 new comments are added.
At this time, after restoring the file to the previous version, it will still maintain the state before the restoration, in which 5 new comments are included and 3 comments are still deleted.
