Canvas

The canvas in Motiff is the backdrop where all frames, groups, and other layer types are located. You can freely create design content on canvas. The finite size of the canvas on each axis is from -65000 to +65000.

Canvas background

Every page in the file has a canvas background. The default color of the canvas background is light gray #EDEEF0. If you want to change the default color, you can deselect layers on the current page and change the color of the canvas background. 'Canvas background.png'

Note: The canvas background color cannot be changed while in Dev Mode.

Zoom the canvas

By zooming the canvas, you can adjust it to the proper scale for viewing the target area.

You can scale the canvas quickly and proportionally by clicking the Zoom/view options on the right side of the toolbar and selecting the corresponding option. 'Zoom Options.png'

You can also zoom the canvas directly using the following shortcuts:

Move the canvas

You can move the canvas up, down, left, and right by clicking '24_toolbar_gripper.svg' in the toolbar or by switching to the hand tool with the shortcut H .

You can also move the canvas by pressing Space or scrolling the mouse wheel.

Ruler

If you want to display rulers on the canvas, you can click to expand the Zoom/view options and select Rulers or display the rulers using the shortcut Shift + R .

Pixel grid

Displaying the pixel grid can help you create and align layers more conveniently and accurately on the canvas.

You can display or hide the pixel grid by clicking Zoom/view options and selecting Pixel grid.

You can also use the shortcuts:

  • Windows: Ctrl + '

Measure the distance

Measuring the distance can help you to increase the accuracy of your design.

You can measure the distance between selected layers and the target layer by using the shortcut ⌥ Option / Alt . 'Measure the distance.png'
