Rulers and guides

Rulers and guides can help you precisely control the position and size of layers and align them on a larger scale.

Rulers

Show/Hide rulers

Rulers are not displayed by default. You will need to enable rulers in the following ways:

  • Open the main menu on the toolbar and select View - Rulers.
  • Open the zoom/view options on the right side of the toolbar, and click Rulers.
  • Shortcuts: Shift + R

Guides

Create a new guide

Click on rulers and drag toward the canvas to create a new guide.

  • If the guide is placed on the canvas, it will be visible across the entire canvas.
  • If the guide is placed on the top-level frame, it will be displayed within it.

Move the guides

Drag the guide to move its position.

To move the guide more precisely, you can use shortcuts. After selecting the guide:

  • Press the arrow keys , , , to adjust the position by 1px per movement.
  • Hold Shift and press , , , to adjust the position by 10px per movement.

Remove guides

To remove guides from the canvas, you can do any of the following:

  • Click and drag the guide back to the rulers.
  • Select a guide, then press Delete to remove it.

Show/Hide guides

When you need to preview your design, you can hide the guides to avoid information interference.

Guides and rulers can be shown/hidden synchronously. The method to show/hide them is the same as for rulers.

View distances

After selecting a layer, hold ⌥ Option / Alt and hover over the guide to see the distance between the selected layer and the guide.
