Insufficient disk space

How Motiff uses disk space

When disk space is used

  1. 1.Offline operations: To ensure you can continue editing when the network is down, Motiff stores data locally.
  2. 2.Store user preferences: To provide a personalized experience, some preference settings are stored locally.
  3. 3.Plugins: Plugins may store a small amount of data locally to record user interactions and settings.
  4. 4.Error Logs: To diagnose and solve problems, Motiff stores recent error logs locally.

Available disk space

Different browsers have different limits on disk space usage. For more information, see storage quotas and eviction criteria.

  • Chrome: All sources combined should not exceed 60% of the total disk space.
  • Safari: A single source should not exceed 20% of the total disk space.
  • Firefox: All sources combined should not exceed 10% of the total disk space, with an absolute limit of 10GiB.

Consequences and resolutions of insufficient disk space

Consequences

If you run out of disk space, Motiff will not be able to store offline operations locally. This means you will lose the ability to edit files without a stable network connection.

In some cases, you may see a warning of insufficient disk space, indicating that some data could not be saved due to lack of space. While you can still continue editing files, it is recommended to free up some disk space to ensure Motiff operates normally.

Free up disk space

Here are some suggestions for freeing up disk space:

  1. 1.Delete unnecessary files: Clean up large files such as videos and images from your computer.
  2. 2.Uninstall unused apps: Go to the Applications folder (macOS) or the Control Panel - Programs and Features (Windows) to uninstall unused applications.
  3. 3.Clear cache: Clear the cache data of your browser and other apps.
  4. 4.Empty your Trash: Right-click the Trash icon, and then select Empty Recycle Bin (macOS) or Empty Trash (Windows).
