Manage login method of members

Motiff allows the organization admin to configure the login method of organization members to enhance data security.

For example, admins can set organization members to authenticate exclusively using SAML SSO for stricter access control.

Configure login methods

Motiff supports three types of login methods. Admins can configure or modify the login methods based on the organization's needs.

  • Any method: Under the default configuration, organization members can use any of the following three methods to log in: Email and Password, Google Account, or SAML SSO.
  • Log in with a Google account: Organization members can only sign in with a Google account. For organizations using Google Workspace, both sign-in with Google and Google SAML SSO are supported.
  • Login with SAML SSO: Organization members can only sign in with SAML SSO. This is suitable for organizations requiring strict access control. Authentication is supported through identity systems such as Okta or OneLogin.

Steps

Note: To avoid configuration errors that may result in failure to log in, admins need to follow the following rules when modifying the login method:

  • Verify the validity of the target login method: Before modifying the login method, they must log in using the target method to ensure its validity. For example, if you want to set up only a SAML SSO login, you need to complete the validation through a SAML SSO login first.
  • Re-validate after updating the configuration: If the admins modify the SAML SSO configuration, they must log in again with the updated configuration and verify its validity before setting the login method to SAML SSO only.

  4. 4.Click Confirm in the second popup to complete the configuration.

    Tip: The modification of the login method will not affect the access of logged-in members, and the settings will take effect at the next login.

    If my IdP is out of service, can I still log in to Motiff?

    If the IdP is out of service and the organization is set up to only use SAML SSO login, you will not be able to log in to Motiff. You can try the following:

    • Contact another admin: If another admin is still logged in, you can contact them to change the login configuration to restore the access.
    • Contact technical support: If all admins are unable to log in, please send an email to service@motiff.com. Our technical support team will assist you.
